Dear RCE colleagues
Those present at the Annual Meeting in Graz, last December, will remember that RCE’s are constantly on the lookout to create forms off collaboration and communication to support the work of the individual RCEs. The following information is relevant for those RCEs who want to take up information exchange, to start on a European level.
RCE Rhine-Meuse (and RCE Graz-Styria) are involved in a EU funded project called 3-Lensus (Lifelong Learning Network for Sustainable Development). The 3-Lensus project is creating a database to collect and share innovative projects promoting Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in Europe. The database will establish a definitive and open source of information about European ESD projects that can be accessed by any participant. By contributing your projects to the database you will help to provide a virtual library of ESD information. Information providing knowledge on past and ongoing experiences of research activities and actual delivery of ESD in a variety of formats and settings. You and other ESD practitioners will directly benefit by being able to search for and exchange ideas that build on good practice.
The projects included in this database focus on the following aspects: multiple stakeholder orientation (a university/research institution + at least one other regional actor involved); regional sustainable development; lifelong learning.
An e-learning or blended learning component is regarded as an additional value.
The 3-Lensus project focusses on the key issue of the “knowledge triangle” of education, research and innovation, for regional sustainable development. Projects for ESD thus comprise all levels of lifelong learning, addressing both projects in formal learning such as educational activities at school, but also projects on sustainable regional development focusing on non-formal and informal learning as well as knowledge-creation among participants.
